Nana Otutua-Amoah

Associate

Nana Otutua Amoah entered immigration practice nearly six years ago as an attorney, following two years of paralegal work. She represents multinational pharmaceutical companies and industrial supply firms, bringing meticulous precision to PERM labor certifications, H-1B petitions, and L-1 transfers.

As a first-generation immigrant who came to the U.S. at age nine from Ghana, Nana has always been fascinated by the stories of how and why people move here. During law school, Nana served as a federal judicial extern for Judge Sharon Johnson Coleman at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and worked as a 711-licensed student clinician with the Civitas ChildLaw Clinic — experiences that deepened her commitment to serving vulnerable populations. She gravitated toward immigration law because immigrants represent some of the bravest people she knows — individuals who leave everything familiar to build entirely new lives.

Nana’s approach is deliberate and investigative, and her communication style reflects that understanding: thoughtful in tone, service-oriented in intent, carefully anticipating what information will genuinely help. When complications surface, she remains composed and solution-focused, offering recommendations grounded in thorough analysis.

Beyond client work, Nana remains deeply engaged in African immigrant communities and serves as a volunteer and Associate Board Member of City Year Chicago, a nonprofit advancing educational equality by placing AmeriCorps members in under-resourced schools. She speaks on panels for the Metropolitan Black Bar Association and United African Organization about immigration policy’s impact on Black communities, and presents to church groups and Ghanaian associations.
